Rosendo Mateu No. 2 (Citrus, Wood, Suede Leather) Sample

What we think:

Rosendo Mateu No. 2 is a rrich, high quality take on citrus with floral nuances and smooth dark suede with leather and patchouli. This isn't just a typical citrus scent, and there's a lot more to it than just the straightforward "citrus, woods, leather" from the title. There's a freshness from the citrus but it's always paired with a darker shadow.

It actually has a little bit in common with one of our favorite fragrances, Louis Vuitton Sur La Route, though that one is more fresh and this is more classy and buttoned up. This has a little more of a vintage vibe, though by no means dated. The florals here are not feminine-leaning, but they are present and add some astringency and texture to the citrus. The vanilla isn't too gourmandy or sweet at all. The patchouli is noticeable and creates an almost slightly animalic undertone at times with the way it interacts with the suede and leather, though it's very subtle and this isn't a particularly dirty patchouli. There's also an ambery accord.

Bottom line: a smooth yet deep take on citrus, suede, and patchouli with some florals.
