Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Le Parfum Sample

What we think:

Black Opium Le Parfum is a bouquet of white florals and vanilla contrasted against a background of smooth dark coffee. Picture putting white flowers into a vase of vanilla latte instead of water, with the vanilla as the star of the show.

We personally like it better than the original Black Opium, as that one comes across a bit syrupy for us. This is still very sweet, but it takes out some of the more harsh notes from the original, so we find it to be an easier wear. Of course, the original is hugely popular - and if you like all the different aspects that come together in the original, you might find this one to be too much of a simple vanilla in comparison. But if you're like us and don't like the strength of the patchouli/licorice-y side to the original, and you love vanilla, white florals, and coffee, you might prefer this! The vanilla amps up more and more as it progresses, so above all this is for people who love vanilla.
