Berdoues Selva do Brazil Sample

What we think:

Selva Do Brazil opens with a burst of strong citrus in a neroli-like way, comparable to 4711 Cologne. As it progresses, it dials down the astringency and becomes a pleasant woodsy scent. The tonka plays around the edges as a supporting role rather than the star. It never goes full on powdery or tonka overdose. We really like it!

There's not any one phase during which it necessarily smells unique. But to us it's still unique overall, because of the combination of accords it presents. Usually these type of petitgrain/neroli/orange blossom-heavy fragrances dry down to something musky, earthy, or vetiver. And they rarely have tonka in any noticeable way. We love that this one has that beautiful fresh opening and glides unexpectedly but naturally into the later woodsy phases. It's like walking through a real area in nature.
